BFC Baseball stepped onto the field at MSU early on Friday morning with hopes of moving on to the championship game but standing in their way were the Tigers of Caro High School. Coach Fettes gave the ball to Ethan Hoffman and the junior did not disappoint as he carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning. The Ventures scored early as an Evan Finegan single drove in Max Stevenson who had put himself in scoring position with a walk and a steal. The team left a runner stranded but took the 1-0 lead into the 2nd. It would stay that way until the 3rd inning when Payton Schuster reached on an error and then quickly stole 2nd. A hard hit ball by Mason Minzey went off the glove of the left fielder and Payton raced home to give the Ventures the 2-0 lead after 3. Payton was back in action in the 5th as he singled after advancing to third a sharp single by Justin Campbell would score the eventual game winning run. At the end of 5 Foley was up 3-0 on the Tigers. A small hiccup in the top of the 6th saw the Tigers get back into the game. The scrappy Caro team pushed two runs across the plate to draw within 1, but Mason Minzey picked off the tying run at 2nd on a beautiful throw to Max Stevenson to end the threat. The team now advances to the semifinal round of play as they face Caro, The story though was Ethan Hoffman as he calmly came into the top of the 7th and put down the side. Ethan ended the game with a strikeout, his 11th of the day and completed the game and the victory. The Ventures will now play Traverse City St. Francis in the the winner of Division III State Championship game. The game is Saturday, June 17th at Michigan State University in East Lansing.  First pitch is set for 2:30 PM.
