BFC Baseball had an ace up their sleeve as they faced Riverview Gabriel Richard on Tuesday in the Division III Quarterfinal 11. That ace was Justin Campbell. The senior lefty threw 6 strong innings allowing only 4 hits and pitching out of 2 bases loaded jams to record the shut-out. The bats have been the story all tournament and they continued to keep the presses hot as batter after batter contributed at the plate. Max Stevenson continued his hot hitting as he laced a ball up the middle in the first inning to record the first of many hits on the day. Chase Gearing soon delivered as his RBI single pushed Max across to score and put the Venture up 1-0. In the 4th, Payton Schuster had a hit drop in to left center. Two batters later Mason Minzey drove in his teammate to make it 2-0. Justin Campbell showed that he was not to be ignored at the plate as his RBI single drove in Max Stevenson. Evan Finegan stepped into the batters box with pinch runners, Alderson and Hubanks, at 2nd and 3rd. He quickly turned on a pitch and sent it back up the middle to make it 5-0. That was the end of the day for the Pioneers pitcher. In the 5th inning. Evan Ludwick singled with 1 out where he then promptly stole 2nd and 3rd. Schuster recorded another hit as he ripped a double in the right-center gap scoring Ludwick. Mason Minzey added his 2nd RBI of the day with a sac-fly to right before Evan Finegan finished the scoring with a line drive hit off the first baseman's glove to score Max Stevenson and the Ventures 8th run of the day. Benji Alderson came on in the 7th to close things out as he induced to ground balls and 1 strikeout to put the finishing touches on a great team effort in the 8-0 victory.  The team now advances to the semifinal round of play as they face Caro, the winner of Division III Quarterfinal 12. The game is Friday, June 16th at Michigan State University in East Lansing.  First pitch is set for 9 AM.
