Girls Soccer faced the Knights of Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett in the MHSAA regional 15 semifinal. It was a pressure packed game that went back and forth in the first half as both teams found opportunities to put the ball on net. Despite the scoring chances neither team was able to put a goal on the board and they went into the half scoreless. In the second half, Liggett scored first but the Ventures kept working hard for the equalizer. Megan Gleason found some space but was taken down inside the 18 and earned a penalty kick for the Ventures. Jillian Ramos calmly stepped up and evened the score as she put the PK past the Knights goalie. Both teams had chances as the game clocked ticked down, but it was the Knights that scored to take the lead. The Ventures continued to push forward but time was not on their side today. The final score of 3-1 was not indicative of how evenly balanced the game was between these two excellent teams. The season may have ended for the girls soccer team but it will not be forgotten as they brought home the first CHSL Championship since 2003 and the first district title since 2012. Enough cannot be said about this group of student-athletes, but hopefully a simple, "Thank you" will suffice. Thank you for playing the game the right way, thank you for being good teammates and thank you for an exciting season that lifted the hearts of all that watched and supported the journey.
